As members of the Performing Arts Medicine Association we advocate for the prevention, assessment, and management of injuries and musculoskeletal disorders specific to musicians, dancers, and theatre artists.
Studies done on professional performers show that long rehearsals, demanding performances, and the sheer psychological pressure of performing in public can get overwhelming, resulting in muscle fatigue and injury, burnout, and anxiety.
Massage, on the other hand (no pun intended), has proved to be beneficial to relieve muscle tension and stress. It is therefore an effective tool to help performers cope with the demands of the profession, to maintain or improve their performance level, and more importantly, suppport career longevity.
A performer herself, Dora has found in massage therapy a great way to manage the muscle and mental fatigue that come with being a professional singer and would like to invite all professional performers out there to include massage therapy into their wellness resources!
